Verified August 27, 2026: a Pinterest board can contain an All saves view plus a More ideas or Shop recommendation view. Opening recommendations first does not mean your saved Pins were deleted. The board owner may see tabs that collaborators and public visitors do not see.
Fastest fix: open the board from your profile and choose All saves. If that restores the library, you have a navigation or preference problem—not data loss.
Understand what Pinterest added to boards
Pinterest's board documentation distinguishes:
- All saves: Pins you actually added to the board;
- More ideas: recommendations based on the board;
- Shop: shopping recommendations that may appear for certain saved content.
Only the board owner sees the More ideas and Shop tabs. This explains why your screen can differ from a collaborator's screen or a screenshot of the public board.
Recover the saved view without changing the board
- Go to your profile rather than opening a recommendation card.
- Open the correct board.
- Select All saves.
- Check board sections if you previously organized Pins into sections.
- Confirm the username in the profile header if you use more than one account.
If the expected Pins appear, stop. Do not merge, delete, recreate, or move the board to “fix” the tab.
Review the “recommendations first” preference cautiously
On supported mobile versions, open the board menu and look for the preference controlling whether recommendations appear first. Pinterest's wording and behavior have changed, and its own documentation can be confusing, so verify the result by closing and reopening the same board.
Capture a screenshot before changing the switch. If the setting reverses itself or has no effect, record the app version and treat it as a reproducible product problem.
When this is actually a missing-Pin problem
Use the missing Pinterest boards and Pins checklist when any of these are true:
- All saves is empty even though the board count was previously non-zero;
- only some sections or older Pins are absent;
- the board is missing from the profile completely;
- you lost access to a group board;
- Pinterest sent a removal or account-status notice;
- the correct content appears under another username.
Do not confuse board recommendations with the home feed
More ideas uses the selected board as an important signal. The home feed uses a broader history of activity, boards, follows, and interests. If only the suggestions are poor, leave your saved library intact and troubleshoot recommendations separately with the home-feed relevance guide.
If the board itself is difficult to locate
A search problem can make an existing board seem lost. Test profile navigation, archived boards, direct URLs, public board search on desktop, and the Save destination picker independently. The board-search diagnostic separates those paths.

The safe conclusion
First prove whether the Pins still exist under All saves. A recommendation-first interface is annoying, but it is much less dangerous than assuming deletion and rebuilding a board that was intact all along.
